Broad City Final Season!
Hello, all! We at The Bigfoot Press hope you’ve had a happy and healthy New Year thus far, and personally we can’t wait to fill our upcoming year with friends, family, and art.
As most of you may know, 3/4 of The BFP partners have their roots in the film and TV industry! When they aren’t devoting themselves to printmaking, Bryan, Dylan, and Manuel are working hard in the Costumes and Production side of some of New York’s finest shows. A benefit to that is that we get to help some of our favorite productions make their end-of-season wrap gifts.
Broad City has been a friend of The BFP since our inception, and co-founder Bryan has supervised their Costumes Department for the past two seasons. Staci Greenbaum, our wonderful friend and their incredible Costume Designer, has blown us away year after year with the show’s iconic costumes (Abbi’s blue dress, anyone??). As fans of the show, we were thrilled when they offered us the opportunity to screen print the wrap gifts for their final season!
Once we’d received the artwork from production, it was time to get to work. With Manuel in Philly working on a giant mural with artist Meg Saligman, it was up to Bryan, Alex and Dylan to complete the project. And it was a tall order! To make sure each crew member got a token of appreciation, we had to print 175 T-shirts and both sides of 150 totes.
Bryan took point on the totes, while Dylan and Alex started on the T-shirts, powering through each pull of the squeegee to the tunes of V the Viper (check out his music on Bandcamp!) and only stopping for a quick lunch break.
Once the T-shirts were finished, it was time to move on to the second side of the totes. Bryan and Alex printed while Dylan acted as their “clean hands” (the person who handles the prints with, you guessed it, ink-free hands) and videographer! See our Instagram for an edit of all the footage.
It was a big job, but we had a total blast, bopping around to our favorite shop jams and laughing as we worked, enjoying the printing process and the time spent together. By the end of the day, we had completed the order! 175 T-shirts and 150 totes were packed up into boxes and delivered first to the Broad City production offices, and then to the show’s deeply talented crew.
Every Wednesday starting January 24th, at 10 PM EST, you’ll be able to watch the fruits of that crew’s labor. We are so honored to have played a part, not only in the show’s production, but ultimately in it’s expression of gratitude for the people behind the scenes who get the job done. Congratulations on a hell of a season! We can’t wait to see what happens!
Until next time, with all our love,
The BFP
